The Northern Communities Director leads the Friends’ effort to build conservation capacity and power in key northeastern Minnesota communities. The position spends considerable time building relationships and increasing collaboration between the Friends and community members and other conservation groups. The Northern Communities Director represents the organization to citizens, media, political leaders and other members of northeastern Minnesota communities.

Bill Rom Advocacy Fellowship, Minneapolis, Minnesota – Applications due April 30, 2014
This advanced internship is offered during the summer of 2014. Participants will get first-hand experience advocating for wilderness and related conservation issues. The fellowship will feature a trip to Washington, D.C. with Friends’ staff to meet with elected officials, government agencies, and staff at partner organizations.

Want to get experience working in a high-impact conservation non-profit? Friends of the Boundary Waters Wilderness offers a variety of unique internships that are an opportunity for you to gain practical experience and develop workplace skills. Internships at the Friends can be part to full-time (about 10-35 hours per week for 10 to 12 weeks). We generally hire 1-2 interns per semester and summer for positions in membership, policy, and communications. Applicants typically have completed at least one year of college and must be at least 18 years old. Stipends are available. Please email Cori for more information and to apply.
