The Friends strives to protect and enhance the wilderness, whether it is in the BWCAW or other parts of the Quetico-Superior Ecosystem.

To achieve that goal, the Friends launched in 2003 the Protect Minnesota's Wilderness campaign to permanently protect 90,000 acres of Superior National Forest for hunting, fishing, canoeing, and hiking.
