The Friends’ programs focus on the value of wilderness and the need to protect it. Through collaboration with a diverse set of partners, we work to manage the spread of non-native invasive species, support efforts to preserve and restore the wilderness character of the BWCAW, and encourage and educate the next generation of wilderness sstewards. Some of our programs include: Superior Wilderness Volunteer ConnectionA unique collaboration with the Superior National Forest and the National Forest Foundation to fund volunteers who work with wilderness rangers. Non-native invasive speciesWe have worked with the Superior National Forest and other partners to develop an educational booklet about non-native invasive species which threaten the BWCAW ecosystem. Thomas Flint Canoe TripsWorking with YMCA Camp Menogyn and the Thomas Flint Fund, we sponsor canoe trips in the BWCAW for inner-city youth. |
