Commemorating the fur trading business that flourished in northeastern Minnesota 200 years ago, Grand Portage National Monument contains the archeological remains of several fur trading posts and the portage that marked the entrance into the interior of western Canada. The Monument is located at the northeast tip of Minnesota on Lake Superior.
