Boundary Waters Management Changes – Lunch with Friends

Virtual - Zoom

Thursday April 25, 2024, 12pm
For the first time in more than 30 years, the Superior National Forest is updating how it manages the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness!

Please join us for this very special Lunch with the Friends where we will have a roundtable discussion of what updates should be made to the Forest Service’s management plan for the BWCA.

We want to hear your voice!

You are essential to this process. You will be able to speak during this program and be part of this conversation. Facilitating this discussion will be Lee Frelich, the Director of the Forest Ecology Center at the University of Minnesota; Dan Pauly, author of the leading Boundary Waters guide book and former Friends’ Board Chair; and Tom Donaho, attorney and a Friends’ Board Member.

What issues should the Forest Service consider?
Climate change? Recreational uses? Invasive species? Indigenous perspectives? Diversity, equity, inclusivity, and justice? Protecting the wilderness from sulfide mining? What else? What should be the top priorities?

Please let us know at this Lunch with the Friends on Thursday, April 25, at 12 pm Central Time.

Thank you for your support and for your passion for the Boundary Waters. We look forward to seeing you and having the benefit of your thoughts!
