Lunch with Friends – The fight to protect the Boundary Waters

Online - Zoom meeting

Celebrating the 45th Anniversary of the BWCAW Act of 1978
Thursday, October 26, 12pm
Zoom – Virtual

Last Saturday — October 21, 2023 — marked the 45th anniversary of President Jimmy Carter signing the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness Act of 1978 into law.

To celebrate this milestone event, we have a very special Lunch with the Friends program with three of the individuals who created Friends of the Boundary Waters Wilderness and fought for passage of the BWCAW Act of 1978: Chuck Dayton, Jan Green, and Kevin Proescholdt.

Chuck, Jan, and Kevin will share their insights and personal experiences on the legislative and political battles leading up to passage of the BWCAW Act of 1978. They will also reflect on how the lessons learned from that time period can be applied to the current efforts of the Friends to protect the wilderness.

This is a can’t-miss program for anyone who loves the Boundary Waters and has wondered how ordinary citizens came together to protect it for future generations!
