Description: The Angleworm Trail loop is a justly popular hike that can be completed by ambitious hikers in a single day, or in a moderate two-day hike. The rocky trail has a lot of ups and downs that take you along Angleworm Lake. Views of this beautiful, narrow lake and its rocky islands will make you want to bring your canoe next time — until you remember you’ll need to portage that canoe 600-rods or about 2-miles to reach the lake! Unlike many hiking trails in the Boundary Waters, this one is wide, well maintained, and you’ll need to put in some effort to get lost.

Beautiful Day Hike/Snowshoe
This is gorgeous hike with lots of beautiful views and some some backpacking campsites. Start early and you can certainly do this as a day hike, even with lots of stops. If you hike the route clock-wise, the trail on the last quarter of the loop is a little more difficult so allow a bit more time for that section. Beautiful in winter, too, but I haven’t done the full loop in winter.
