Boundary Waters Wilderness Protection and Pollution Prevention Act

The Boundary Waters Wilderness Protection and Pollution Prevention Act was re-introduced by Congresswoman Betty McCollum (DFL-MN) January 21, 2025. This bill would permanently protect the 225,504 acres of federal lands and waters in the Rainy River watershed that were recently protected by the Biden Administration’s 20-year mineral withdrawal, but are now threatened by the Trump administration vows to roll back these protections.  The Boundary Waters Wilderness Protection and Pollution Prevention Act would ensure that the critical resources within the Boundary Waters and Superior National Forest are protected against international corporations from pollution and extraction.
