Announcing the Friends’ 2024 Photo Contest

Our annual photo contest returns – with a new twist!
Share your best Boundary Waters moments! Enter our 2024 photo contest for a chance to win one of eight prizes and help fuel our mission to protect, preserve and restore the BWCA.
There are eight categories with eight winners. Each winner will receive a $30 gift certificate to REI. New Deadline for entry is December 2. Winners will be announced mid-December.
New category: VINTAGE
We’re looking for those classic BWCA moments – the aluminum canoes, canvas tents, and plaid wool everywhere! Share those treasured shots from decades past, whether it’s your family’s adventures in the 70s, encounters with legendary figures like Dorothy Molter, Sigurd Olson, or any pre-2000 photos that capture the spirit of Boundary Waters history. Film grain and faded colors welcome – these aren’t flaws, they’re part of the story!
Guidelines/ Rules
- Submit photos in their highest resolution – the bigger, the better!
- By entering, you grant Friends of the Boundary Waters Wilderness permission to use your photos in our advocacy and outreach work (emails, social media, printed materials). Don’t worry, we’ll always give you credit!
- Name your files like this: “first name_last name_handle_category” Example: “Jane_Doe_@paddler42_Vintage”
- Include your social media handle in the filename if you have one – we’d love to tag you!
- Enter as many photos as you’d like by emailing them to photo@friends-bwca.org or clicking the button below.
- NEW DEADLINE – December 2!
We know some of these categories overlap. Just pick the one that seems to fit your photo the best.
