Wild places don’t just challenge us — they can reveal undiscovered inspiration and empowerment.

Join us March 23rd at the Historic Ely State Theater for a screening of Wood on Water, a film following nine teenage girls, two women guides, and a female filmmaker on an epic canoe trip through northern Quebec. Through candid interviews, raw footage, and reflective moments, the film weaves canoe tripping’s history and tradition into the modern teenage girl’s experience — a testament to the power of wild places and the courage it takes to find yourself in them.

After the film, six remarkable women will take the stage for a live panel conversation on how wild spaces challenge, inspire, and empower. Come ready to listen, reflect, and (maybe) leave with a new reason to get out there.

Women’s Wilderness Panelists: Abby Mans · Desirae Smith · Emily Ford · Gillian Fitzgerald · Becca Manlove · Julie Hignell

Wood on Water producer Maxine Christopher will also be in attendance.
