Fastest Known Paddle
Join Friends of the Boundary Waters in Ely for a special presentation with Scott Duffus and Scott Miller, the team behind Fastest Known Paddle, a website that tracks paddle route records like ultra runners track trail times.
Scott and Scott have previously set records on the Mississippi and Minnesota Rivers. Next year, they are going for the Missouri River record, which has stood for 50 years since Verlen Kruger and Steve Landick set it during the Ultimate Canoe Challenge. They accomplished past records in high-performance solo canoes, so it may be breakable with a four-person team.
The Missouri River is a unique challenge, with stretches of dammed water and long flat, windy sections. Hear their stories, strategies, and what it takes to tackle one of America’s most iconic rivers.
