Lunch with Friends: Uplifting Indigenous Voices in the Minnesota Legislature
October 13, 2023
12pm-1pm

Indigenous People’s Day is October 9th. As part of the Friends’ commitment to foster allyship with Indigenous people and Native Nations, this Lunch with the Friends features two Indigenous members of the Minnesota Legislature, state Senator Mary Kunesh from New Brighton and state Representative Heather Keeler from Moorhead.

Senator Kunesh is of Standing Rock Sioux Tribe heritage. Representative Keeler is an enrolled member of the Yankton Sioux Tribe. Senator Kunesh and Representative Keeler will discuss how their Indigenous backgrounds inform their perspectives and their legislative service. They will discuss the key legislative initiatives that they have been part of to support Indigenous interests and provide a look at what additional progress can be made in the upcoming legislative session. Please join us for this important and timely Lunch with the Friends program!
