Special Update on the BWCA Fires
A Lunch with the Friends virtual presentation
Wednesday, September 1st
12pm Central Time

Late on Friday, the Superior National Forest announced an important closure extension. All campsites in the national forest are now closed, except for those sites in established campgrounds. Over the weekend, light rain and low winds helped crews gain some ground in fire containment, though weather conditions may worsen in the coming days.

Listen to this live program to get the very latest information on the wildfires in the BWCA and throughout the Superior National Forest. Find out what progress the brave firefighters have made in containing the fires during these recent days of favorable weather.

We will be joined by:

  • Clare Shirley, Owner and Operator of Sawbill Canoe Outfitters
  • Ann Schwaller, Wilderness Program Manager at the Superior National Forest
  • Joanna Gilkerson, Public Affairs Specialist for the Superior National Forest
  • Clark McCreedy, Public Information Officer for the Eastern Area Incident Management Team.
